REPORTS TO Distribution Manager 

LOCATION: Blue Springs, MO 

JOB TYPE: Full-Time  

ABOUT THE ROLE 

JOB PURPOSE: 

Focused and unsurpassed service to both internal and external customers in support of all departments within the company to fulfill shipping and receiving needs. Emphasis to different aspects of the job functions depending on company needs.

 

EMPLOYMENT STATUS: Non-Exempt  

MAJOR TASKS/RESPONSIBILITIES   

  • Manages activities related to distribution and logistics.
  • Process all shipping documents to ensure that items are shipped on time to customers.
  • Verification that orders follow compliance and regulatory requirements.
  • Efficiently and accurately processes freight quotes for out bound orders.
  • Accurately submits freight claims to appropriate carriers and ensures that reimbursement is made.
  • Coordination of incoming shipments and returns from customers and vendors.
  • Works with shipping staff to improve operation and performance metrics.
  • Provide information, recommendations, and coordinate project implementation for transportation and logistics cost reduction opportunities. Identify mode optimization opportunities.
  • Manages air and expedite freight expenditures through adherence of corporate approval process.
  • Liaises with company field offices with regard to shipment movements.
  • Maintains records of shipment movements.
  • Manage facilities maintenance and safety of overall facility.
  • Ability to interact closely with various levels of management, including senior management, department personnel, related company staff members, and external business partners.
  • Ability to efficiently estimate the quantity of trucks required for individual shipments and follow through from personnel to safety load while minimizing costs to our customers despite our variety of products and product configurations.
  • Attends training sessions as required.
  • Performs other tasks as assigned.

 ABOUT YOU 

  •  3+ years’ experience in logistics/freight operations in a manufacturing environment preferred

 PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES 

  • Reliable employee that can work independently. 
  • Reads and perform work as assigned by Supervisor.
  • Perform patch, repair and cleaning operations.
  • Follow basic work instructions on prints.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area.
  • Perform additional duties as needed.

 MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • Strong knowledge of logistics and operations concepts, practices and procedures.
  • Ability to operate various computerized shipping applications.
  • Hands on, energetic and motivated self-starter.
  • Ability to perform duties under minimal supervision while exercising discretion and independent judgement.
  • Professional demeanor; team player orientation.
  • Ability to interface with internal and external parties at all levels.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple, high priority projects with a keen attention to detail.
  • Proficient in the following software packages: MS Word, MS Excel, MAS2000 preferred.
  •  Bilingual (Spanish) a plus.
